LISTENING TECHNIQUES USED IN ENGLISH LISTENING ANDROID APPLICATION

Abstract
Nowadays multimedia technology becomes more accessible to teachers and learners of other languages, its potential as a tool to enhance listening skills becomes a practical option. Multimedia allows integration of text, graphics, audio, and motion video in a range of combinations (Chang, 2010). By the growth of technology, many media and application are created to provide autonomous learning. One of the proofs is the existing thousands English listening Android applications. As mobile technology develops, it affords second or foreign language learners and teachers ever greater opportunity to practice the target language “anywhere and anytime (Geddes, 2004 in Jee 2011). As long as learners need to practice, they don’t only need to study at school and course but autonomous learning is necessary to support their improvement.
Creating autonomous learning needs specific and appropriate technique available to make successful learning. Because autonomous learners should characterize their self in willing and having capacity to control their learning (including learning style, strategy and technique they like most). On this case selecting learning media and source will take importance role. This qualitative study will investigate the technique used in some free English listening Android applications and their advantages in learning English especially listening section.
